Sept 18th - 7pm: Official Preview Party!
CHALLENGERS comics + conversation is the official host site for the kick off of the 2009 Windy City Comicon! This signing/party will be chock full of comic pros attending the 2009 WCCC in a relaxed (and lubricated) setting. Featuring: Alex Grecian, Jeremy Haun, Dennis Hopeless, Sean McKeever, Kevin Mellon, B. Clay Moore, Mike Norton, Seth Peck, the guys from Around Comics...and more to come!

Sept 19th - 11:00am: Windy City Sketch Jam
The FASTEST 45 minutes of Windy City will kick off the day's programming. Join Around Comics' own Tom Katers and Chris Neseman as they take audience requests for a series of 5 minute sketches. Some of the talented artists showcasing their quick sketch skills include Mike Norton, Chris Moreno, Tim Seeley, Ryan Stegman, Brent Schoonover, and Katie Cook with more to be announced! All sketches will be sold at the Hero Initiative booth to benefit veteran comic creators in need. So bring your quick sketch ideas and be prepared for 45 minutes of quick sketches and quick wit. Sept 19th - 12:00pm: Starkings Raving Mad!
A Conversation with Richard Starkings: Here's your chance to listen to one of the comic industry's the great storytellers. Born and raised in England, Richard Starkings has worked at Marvel UK's London offices as editor, designer and occasional writer and is the creator of Image Comics' Elephantmen and Hip Flask. Richard is perhaps best known for his work with the award-winning Comicraft design and lettering studio, which he founded in 1992 with John 'JG' Roshell.

Three of the comic industry's best and brightest writers are joined by Wordballoon's John Siuntres for in-depth conversation about what it takes to be a comics scribe. B. Clay Moore, Sean McKeever and Will Pfeiffer have written just about every kind of comic imaginable from self published mini-comics to mainstream mega-events. Whether you are trying to break-in to comics yourself, or just interested in the craft of writing, this is the panel for you.

Delve into the creative mind behind Marvel's breakout smash of the year: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Hilary Barta, Tom Ngyuen, Bill Reinhold, Christian Alamy and Andrew Pepoy have been thrilling fans for years as writers, pencilers and yes, inkers. Together they have an (ink) well of knowledge about the history of comics and how comics are made. Join Wordballoon's John Siuntres for a conversation with these multi-talented ink slingers.

Sept 19th - 7:00pm: Official Windy City ComiCon After-Party!
The convention is over, but the fun is just starting. At the conclusion of the day's events at Center on Halsted, you are invited to walk over to John Barleycorn for a night of music, drinks, dancing and all around good fun. Join many of our creators, organizers, volunteers and fellow attendees for what is sure to be one of the best After-Parties of any convention.
